May 2006
Saturday May 27, 2006 |Time| 6:39 PM |Sound| "Move Along" The All-American Rejects |Habit| not getting off work on time |Feel| thirsty |Think| I can't wait to be off for 8 days! Back in January I was doing so well keeping up with blogging. Seems like it's just once a month now... maybe because it pretty much is. I've been working though. Plus I've had most of my days off this month on the days that Sean has off, so that's been nice. Our schedule's had been working out rather well. Sunday is always a good day for me to have off since that's one of his days, and then his other day is Friday. I don't get very many Friday's off, but I've had 3 off this month. Hopefully I'll continue to get some Fridays with him. Yesterday we got up and I cut Sean's hair. We bought a trimmer set and it was only about $19 and for him to normally go get his hair cut is $15. We're coming out way ahead. Plus our kitchen table chairs are adjustable stools, so it worked out well for him to sit in the kitchen. It was really easy to do and it didn't take long. Plus it'll get quicker the more I do it. Then we went out to eat at Blue Plate, our favorite restaurant which we go to at least once a week. We also stopped and picked out some carpet for the game room since we're going to be getting the new console shelf in there soon. So we're going to change the carpet how we have everything but the loveseat out of the room, and we're also going to paint the walls a dark blue, but we still have to go check out paint samples. I believe we're doing that Wednesday evening before I leave. The walls will be painted before I get back from visiting my family, and then that Friday after I get back, June 9, the carpet is going to be put in. We're buying a 37" LCD for our new tv in there and the new shelf which will hold 30 game consoles is designed around that size tv. Sean and his dad will be building it soon. I convinced Sean to go ahead and buy a Sega Master System. We got it on ebay and with 15 games and all the controllers it needs for about $80. Now I need to just go back and add in all of our new games into my game list for my site and the word document I have for Sean. As soon as we get the game room done, wer're going to take pictures of it and send them in to IGN with a list of all of our consoles and games. Speaking of games... We had all 600+ games on one custom shelf we built, and the cat was racing around and ended up knocking it over. This happened at about 11pm one night and luckily we were still up. It ended up setting off the glass break detector in the game room and so our alarm was going off as loud as it could since it was on instant. My first thought was the shelf, Sean's was that someone was breaking in. We knew the shelf needed to be anchored but we had shifted it so that it was a little more stable, but our crazy cat somehow managed to knock it all over. Then we had to go and pick up all of the games which had been organized and put in alphabetical order and just pile them up and put them in our walk-in closet in the bedroom until we get everything in that room done. At least I had taken pictures of the shelf and all of the games before it happened so we know how we had them. I had an issue with one of our associates today. She called in claiming she was sick and said she couldn't work this evening. I told her to call back in 30 minutes to give me time to see if I could find anyone to cover the shift, but after looking at the schedule I realized I didn't have anyone who could come in. When she called back I told her that I needed her to come in since there wasn't anyone to cover her shift, but if she could get a doctor's note then she wouldn't have to come in. Well she was getting all pissy then and said she'd get the excuse. A little while later she calls back and says to me, "Diane, I called the fucking doctor and my medicine isn't working so I'm going to have to get new medicine. But don't worry I'll get you your doctor's excuse." I wanted to cuss her out for taking on a major attitude and talking to me like that, but I wasn't about to cuss out an associate. I had customers around me since I was at the register so I just simply and calmly said, "I didn't say you had to have it today, I told you to get the note and bring it in the next time you worked." Then she was still all attitude and pissy with, "I'll get you your doctor's note." I said, "Alright." and hung up. The next time I talk with her, I'm going to tell her that she needs to rethink her attitude and that she should not be speaking to me like that again. I'm not going to put up with some stupid associate's shit when I have to deal with ignorant customers as it is. That's alright though because we're about to hire some new people and cut her hours and get rid of her. Stupid little bitch. Monday, May 8, 2006 |Time| 10:16 AM |Sound| "Renegade" Styx |Habit| wasting my time off |Feel| hungry? |Think| I just have to work tonight and then 2 days off... I had been trying to figure out what length I wanted my hair. I had been trimming the front a little to kind of make it look better and get an idea of where I wanted it. I had been thinking just slightly above my shoulders. Then I made my hair appointment and that morning I decided on how many inches I wanted cut off. It was originally 3, but then got pushed to 4. I think by the time I got there and got it cut it ended up being more like 5. I told the lady I wanted 4 inches cut (which anytime you tell someone to cut your hair it always endes up being a little bit shorter). She put her hand where it was going to end up and told me thats where it was going to be and if I was sure I wanted that. This could be the shortest I've ever gotten my hair cut. I know sometime right before 8th grade I got it cut short, but it was a bit above my shoulders and I didn't bother to try and style it. That was back when I just let my hair dry instead of blow-drying it. Now my hair is just slightly past my chin and I curl it under as I dry it. Right after she did it, I didn't really like it. That whole first day I was just like "Yeah, I think I like it." It's grown on me and I do actually like it quite a bit now. I had just had longer hair for so long, and it was hard to get used to shorter hair. Of course I don't like my new driver's license picture and I believe mainly because of my hair. I just look horrible in it! Oh well, nobody ever sees it. Oh, and I no longer tuck my hair behind me ears. It's now out and in my face. I'm going to visit my family in June. My flight leaves here June 1st at 7:25am, I have a 2 hour wait in Atlanta, and I arrive in St. Louis at 12:11pm. I'll be back for the family reunion for my dad's side on June 3rd. I leave there June 7th at 6:00am, have an hour and a half wait in Atlanta, and I get back here at 10:00am. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again. The only people I'll be missing are my sister and her boyfriend. They now live in California. And then of course they'll be back in Illinois around May 11 for Josh's graduation. I wouldn't have been able to even go back then because we have our coupon redemption at work from the 10-13 and it's a black-out period. Oh well. I'm not sure when I'll get to see my sister again. The only thing I'm not looking forward to with my visit is not being with Sean. He's staying here since he has to work. It'll be the first time I'm away from Sean since I moved down here. Two years. It's going to be so weird. I hated being away from him when I was still living with my parents, and I didn't want to ever have to go through that again. I know it's different and I won't be gone that long, but still. I'm probably going to cry when I have to say good-bye at the airport. I found out that Sean was really hooked on Coca Cola Blak too. Of course after putting that here and then drinking another one, I realized it was good but I was no longer craving it. I'm good without it. Sean on the other hand... Every time we go to the store he mentions it. I've told him he can't have it. Then we went for breakfast at the Waffle House and decided to get a cup of coffee to see if we just like coffee. No. I tried it black. Then we put four creamers into it and it tasted the same. Then we added a little bit of sugar and that made it slightly better, but it was horrible! Coffee is just yucky. I'll stick with french vanilla cappuccino. Archives |
