  November 2005

|Think| I need to do this and then eat dinner

I enjoyed my time off, but of course it went by so quickly. Plus I didn't do anything with my time off. I mean, I finally finished a the new layout, bought a domain and hosting, cooked, did laundry and dishes, and didn't really do much more than that. Now of course, I'm back at work, and I'm not looking forward to the day after Thanksgiving at all. Plus we now have a set holiday schedule made by whoever, so the hours are crazy. I'm scheduled for 11 hours on black Fiday, but luckily I only have to be there for 9 to 10. I'm happy with any hours taken away from that day. It's going to be a mess, and that's all there really is to say about it.

Sunday went by super fast. I helped with the floorset a bit by doing the jean wall. I had to drag out jeans from the back, size, and organize them. That fun task took me my whole shift. Of course I had to take time out to help people and whatnot. All I have to say is that my jean wall looked damn good. And you know how long it's going to look that good? Well, for that night only since we closed, so I'm sure it doesn't look quite as nice now that a day has passed. I'll find out how bad it got with just one day when I go into work in the morning.

Friday morning I had to drive up to work to because Jessie didn't have the key to the office, so she couldn't open the store. Well, I dropped off my keys and left. I got to an intersection I had been through about 5 minutes ago and there was a wreck. Things like that make me think about how happy I am that I wasn't there at that time. There was another wreck about a week and a half ago, and it was at the exit I take out of the mall. One car had a totaled front end and the other was upside down in the median. My mother-in-law called Sean and asked if it was the exit I took out of the mall. She ended up saying the wrong exit, so Sean said no and wasn't worried. Then I came home and told him it was my exit. Luckily it happened at least 15 minutes before I left for work. I always wonder what it would be like to witness a wreck. It just has to be so weird. I think if I ever got hit, I'd probably cry. If it was before I met Sean, I'd have to say that I probably just would have been there. Now, I just don't even want to imagine never seeing, hearing, or being with Sean again. And because I just did that to myself, I'm a little cry-ish.

On November 4, Sean & I went and saw the movie Doom. We figured it was the best choice out of all the movies we want to see because of the type of movie it is and how it'd maximize the big screen enjoyment. They pulled the movie off very well. People who don't play video games will still enjoy it, but I don't think they'll quite get whole first-person section in it. They did the first-person mode just like how it is when you're playing a video game. You get the whole sneaking along the wall and turning to face the direction the path is going to take before you get to the corner so you're ready to shoot anything and everything the second they come into view and of course you also get the jumpyness. Definitely a movie that we're going to have to own. And of couse, I did jump once or twice, but that is to be expected with me and any movie that could have anything unexpected happen. Not that you're not expecting things to happen in Doom, but I still jump sometimes when they do. Hell, I jumped in Panic Room when it's silent and the guy accidentally knocks the basketball down the stairs. Sudden loud noises in dead silence will get you, or will at least get me.

For the past week my index finger on my left hand has been bothering me. It kept getting worse and worse as the days went on. It'd hurt the most in the morning when I woke up. I don't know how I keep my fingers when I sleep or if I cut off circulation or what it is that I do, but unbending my finger in the morning hurt like hell. Yesterday morning it was horrible. I went up to Walgreens and bought a splint to keep my finger straight and so that I wouldn't use it and make it worse. I had that on my finger all day while I was at work. Everyone kept asking what I did to my finger. At first I explained that it had been going on for about a week and kept getting worse so I got the splint to hopefully make it better. After about the third person asked, I simply told them "I don't know" and left it at that. Then after work, I went back to Walgreens and bought a second finger splint, one that doesn't require bandage tape. I figured it'd be good for just wearing around the house and that way I could take it off quickly and easily. I slept with the taped one on last night, and or course my finger didn't make me want to cry this morning. It still hurts, and I guess I just pulled something or overworked some muscle in it and it just needs a break. Which I have it off at the moment so I can type. I've also discovered that I primarily use my left hand in the shower and to put on my face moisturizer, so it kind of sucks that I can't really use it now.

We have our other assistant manager coming back to work this week. She had surgery and had to be out for about 6 weeks. We then had one of our associates promoted to part-time assistant manager. And since they'll still have three people working, and before we get into the holidays, I was allowed to take some PTO this week. This was my weekend off, so I have today off and with my vacation time, I get through Thursday off. I know I won't want to go back on Friday. And a week from Friday is going to be our busiest day of the year, the day after Thanksgiving. I'm just glad I get to have some time off before I have to go into that again. I was glad I was at the register last year, but I'm figuring since I'm a manager, I'll be on the floor this year. Cleaning up after people is going to be a bitch. They tear apart all the tables, throw everything on the floor, leave everthing in one big pile in the fitting rooms, and get all pissy when they have to wait to try something on or wait in line. All I have to say is, "Don't go shopping the busiest day of the year!", stupid people. And I'll tell everyone now, New York & Company is not going to have any special sales that day. In fact, last year, we had things go back to regular price on the day after Thanksgiving. So all of you people who think you're getting great deals at some stores need to check out the sales before Thanksgiving, and then when you go back in on crazy day you can realize that there isn't anything special going on. I suggest going to stores where you know for sure because of sale ads or commercials or whatever that things are going to be on some sort of special sale.

Kitty discover the automatic soap dispenser this morning. I'm not really sure what she put under it to set it off, but she didn't appear to have any soap on her. I just hope that the noise and awkwardness of it will keep her away. I'd hate to have the cat playing with it and getting all soapy.

|Think| Again, I can't wait for my 'nowman to get home

Yesterday Sean & I drove around where his parents live to see in any houses were for sale. There was one which should have been right around $100,000 or even a little under, but they wanted $130,000. There were some new houses going up close to that area and we took down the number and called about the price last night. The new ones, which are the same size as the one we called about and was about 5 years old, are started at $119,500. So when Sean gets home today, we're going to eat lunch and then meet the one lady up at a finished house so we can see the floorplan of it as well as a few others on paper. It'd end up being about the same size house as what we have now, but with a garage built on and attached to the house. We were wanting to build a garage, but the only thing we can't have is for it to be attached. We're still looking and trying to figure out if we want to move into a new house or if we want to stay where we are and just add on and whatnot. It's been back and forth for a little while now.

I kept waiting for Socialburn's new album to be released, and it kept getting pushed back. Then it was scheduled for late October, and I was excited and kept thinking about it all through September and the beginning of October. Then of course I forgot about it for a little while and just remembered it yesterday. Of course the internet had to be out all day yesterday, but finally came back last night. So I checked out iTunes, and they have it on there. I believe Sean is going to buy it from iTunes for me for Christmas. If he's doing that though, then he had better be making it an early present because I want to listen to "Touch the Sky" before December 25. Which I'm still making out our Christmas list for everyone. I got a little bit of a head start this year. There are quite a few things that we want, and it's really all DVDs and video games. Then of course there's the new Dean Koontz book and a Books Rule! t-shirt that I want. The new book is a follow up to the one that had the best ending. Go figure that I think the one that had the best ending was the one that was the saddest and I actually cried when I read it.
